SUMMARY:Author Reading: Norbert Krapf
DESCRIPTION:Join Indy Reads and Norbert Krapf on February 24th at 2pm for a reading of his new book\, Songs for All Souls.\n\n\nJoin local author Norbert Krapf on February 24th at 2pm for a reading and signing of his book\, Songs for All Souls. \nThis reading is appropriate for adults and teens age 13+. \nThe reading will be followed by a signing. All proceeds of purchases made through Indy Reads support our English literacy programs. \n\n\n\nSongs for All Souls by Norbert Krapf \n“Norbert Krapf’s Songs for All Souls offers us a Book of Prayer whereby we are able to enter “the garden as the veil between us and spirits stretched thin.” We enter that space of the Divine\, gazing in wonder at the love with which our God embraces us and our loved ones. May we find peace and joy as we unburden our sorrow and hurt\, even anger\, when we pray and “see with the help of the light… with new eyes.” Norbert’s poems help us learn “a new language for prayer.” – Father Larry Richardt \n“Here Norbert Krapf gifts us with psalms for our time with a depth and clarity that touches the heart. These psalms sing with poignancy and simplicity and directness-just as do the original psalms of David. They speak with immediacy of every-day experiences we all can share in-celebrating the planting of tomatoes\, lunching in cemeteries with the kids\, listening to Divinity sing\, observing that being interwoven means we are of one cloth. From “Garden Liturgies” to “Gods and Religion\,” from grief to hope and back again\, we are invited into deepened states of awareness and contemplation.”- Matthew Fox\, recipient of the Abbey Courage of Conscience Peace Award\, author of Naming the Unnameable: 89 Wonderful and Useful Names for God \n\n\n\nNorbert Krapf\, Indiana poet laureate from 2008 to 2010\, was born in 1943 in Jasper\, Indiana\, a German-Catholic town in southern Indiana. He received his bachelor of arts degree in English from Saint Joseph College in 1965 and his MA and PhD in English from the University of Notre Dame. He taught at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University where he directed the C.W. Post Poetry Center. He has frequently contributed to Traces of Indiana and Midwestern History and has previously published a book with the Indiana Historical Society Press\, The Ripest Moments\, a memoir of his youth in Jasper. \n\n\n\nThis Event is Pay-What-You-Can \nHere’s what your suggested donation can do for the Indy Reads community: \nFREE – This ticket is for attendees that would like to attend this event and are unable to purchase a ticket.
