In Good Morning, Moon/Buenos Días, Luna, a young boy sees the moon in the morning and is full of wonder about the moon’s adventures- what it sees, hears and does at night.
Good Morning, Moon/Buenos Días, Luna is a wonderful resource for strengthening reading comprehension in Spanish and English while learning about God’s creation. It is easy to read with English and Spanish side by side. Children will learn about the phases of the moon, how the moon’s light helps sea turtles and more! The conversation ties together the concept of the sun reflecting its light off of the moon like Christ’s light shines in and through children of God as we fix our eyes on Jesus. The moon helps us to remember to lift our eyes to Jesus to behold His light and glory. There is a devotional at the end of the book with a focused prayer and song about shining our lights for Jesus.
Good Morning, Moon/Buenos Días, Luna is a perfect gift for children between ages 8 and 11 (2nd to 5th grade). This version is in paperback format.
There is also a hardback version for ages 2 to 7 called Good Morning Moon/Buenos Días, Luna that has the same storyline but is simplified for a younger audience. Both versions are bilingual to encourage reading and worshipping in both Spanish and English.
Andrea Winter is a local author with a passion for creating books that support families who want to create a bilingual reading experience for their children. She also has a love for nature and encourages readers to step into wonder as they admire God’s Creation.
Recently while living in her birth state of Texas again, she found inspiration for writing. One August evening, she read “Good Night, Texas” to a friend’s child. She loves walks in nature, and on her morning walk the next day, she saw the moon and thought, “you could say, “Good Morning, Moon.” Andrea went home and wrote Good Morning, Luna/Buenos Días, Moon. She also found inspiration for ideas in her book from her experience teaching science in Spanish the year before to elementary students in Kissimmee, Florida.
During this time, Andrea began blogging about the many experiences she had traveling the world and about her adventures traveling one conversation at a time with neighbors from around the world within her community of Allen, Texas. Andrea believes our community is a beautiful mosaic of cultures like the mosaic art featured in Parque Güell in Barcelona, Spain that was one of her dream places to visit in her travels around the world.
