One State/One Story: Pop-up Family History Showcase
September 8 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeShare your favorite family artifact at our Pop-up Family History Showcase as part of the Indiana Humanities One State/One Story program and in celebration of International Literacy Day.
Register as a “showcase participant” to share your family’s story either with an artifact, photos, recipes, etc. If you would like a white display board, stop by Indy Reads before the event to pick one up for free, after registering!
We are excited to host our first-ever community-curated showcase. On September 8, we ask you to set up your display at 11am for those to enjoy and discover all day. Participating families will receive free copies of the One State/One Story selected books.
Indiana Humanities’ One State/One Story program invites Hoosiers to engage deeply with a book as part of a statewide conversation tied to our current theme. Indiana Humanities is thrilled to announce Tiya Miles’ All That She Carried: The Journey of Ashley’s Sack, a Black Family Keepsake and Ashley Bryan’s Freedom over Me as the selections for the 2024 One State/One Story program!
One State/One Story: All That She Carried/Freedom Over Me is presented by Indiana Humanities in partnership with the Indiana Center for the Book and the Indiana State Library as part of Indiana Humanities’ Advancing Racial Equity Project, supported by Lilly Endowment.
Join us for our One State/One Story: Guest Scholar Leah Milne on June 29th at 10:30am & our The Indy Reads Book Club on July 28th at 4pm to discuss All That She Carried: The Journey of Ashley’s Sack, a Black Family Keepsake.
This event is recommended for all ages.
All proceeds from book sales at Indy Reads support our English literacy programming.
Indiana Humanities connects people, opens minds and enriches lives by creating and facilitating programs that encourage Hoosiers to think, read and talk.
Indiana Humanities is a statewide nonprofit that infuses the humanities into our daily lives. We do this by providing grants, convening discussions, uplifting humanities scholars, spotlighting humanities organizations and activities, and creating our own programs that help Hoosiers think, read and talk.
