April 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Join Indiana Humanities and Indy Reads for our National Poetry Month Open Mic Night on April 10th at 6pm! This all-ages open mic will be hosted by poet and Indy Reads’ Vice President of Operations Lydia Johnson.
All forms of poetry are welcome. We ask that no explicit language be shared, as this is a family event.
We’ll see you soon!
LYDIA JOHNSON is a poet and writer from Gary, Indiana. Her writing has been published in BLACKBERRY: a magazine, Glamour Magazine, Kiwanis Magazine and the books Women in Clothes, Writers Resist: Hoosier Writers Unite, and Belt Publishing’s The Gary Anthology. She received her M.F.A in Creative Writing from Butler University and lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has taught poetry workshops and led book discussions for the Indiana Writers Center, Indiana Humanities and other local nonprofits. She volunteers as an Editorial Assistant for The Indianapolis Review and serves as a judge for various writing contests geared toward young writers.
Indiana Humanities is a statewide nonprofit that infuses the humanities into our daily lives. We do this by providing grants, convening discussions, uplifting humanities scholars, spotlighting humanities organizations and activities, and creating our own programs that help Hoosiers think, read and talk.
